A U.S. Chess Trust Fundraising Event in New York City with Women’s World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk

The U.S. Chess Trust is having a Fundraising Event! This 20-Board Simultaneous Exhibition Invitational Event with Grandmaster Alexandra Kosteniuk will exclusively benefit the U.S. Chess Trust.

This event will be held in NYC on March 21, 2009 at the British International School of New York located at 20 Waterside Plaza New York, New York 10010.

GM Alexandra Kosteniuk has been very generous to donate her time to the U.S. Chess Trust by giving a 20-Board Simultaneous Exhibition.

We would like to thank the British International School of New York for allowing us to host the event at their school campus!

Pay-to-Play: $500 Tax Deductible Donation-Per-Player.
Sponsor a Player: Give a child an opportunity to play! $500 Donation-Per-Player.

About Alexandra Kosteniuk

Alexandra Kosteniuk is a Grandmaster (GM) with a FIDE rating of 2516. Alexandra was crowned the 12th Women’s World Champion in chess history in September of 2008.

Alexandra was born in the Russian city of Perm on April 23, 1984. She graduated from the Russian State Academy of Physical Education in July 2003 and is a certified professional chess trainer. Her father , Konstantin Vladimirovich taught her to play chess when she was only 5 years old.

Alexandra’s first great achievements came in Junior tournaments. In 1994 she became the European Champion among girls under the age of 10, and a month later shared first and second places at the World Championship under the age of 10.

She became World Champion of girls under 12, in 1996 and in 1997 she became a Woman International Master (WIM) at the age of 13. She officially received the GrandMaster title in November 1998 at the 33rd World Olympiad in Kalmykia.

Her first book, “How I became Grandmaster at Age 14” has been published in three languages (Russian, English and Spanish).
